Fires at Corte/Restonica and Albertacce: Closure of communal trails until further notice
Due to the ongoing forest fire in the Restonica Valley and Albertacce, the Prefect of Haute-Corse has issued prefectural decrees establishing safety measures to protect the public and facilitate firefighting operations.
Due to the proximity of the incident to several hiking trails, access to the following trails is prohibited until further notice.
Effective from Saturday, 18 July 2026 at 16:00, and until further notice, the following trails are closed in both directions:
• U Chjassu di a Muntagnera, starting from the Tuani camping site;
• U Chjassu di u Finellu, from the Restonica information point to Punta a u Finellu.
Effective Sunday, 19 July 2026 at 15:15, the following are closed in both directions (municipality of Corte) :
• the communal trail from Frassetta to the Alzo plateau
• the communal trail from Balire to the Alzo plateau
• the communal trail from the Tuani plateau to the Finellu ridge.
Effective Sunday, 19 July 2026 at 13:30 and until further notice, the following is closed in both directions (municipality of Albertacce) :
• the Mare e Mare Nord hiking trail, from Vergio col to the village of Albertacce.
Effective Sunday, 19 July 2026 at 16:30 and until further notice, the following is closed in both directions (municipality of Corte) :
• the trail from the Sega Refuge to the Alzo plateau
Effective from Wednesday, 22 July 2026 at 15:30 and until further notice, the Mare a Mare Nord trail from Corte to Calacuccia is closed in both directions (municipalities of Corte, Calacuccia, Albertacce).
Effective from Friday, 24 July 2026 at 12:30 and until further notice (as for Corte):
• Access for people and vehicles is prohibited on the D623 road from the "Information Point" at Chjatasgiolu, serving the Restonica valley.
These measures aim to ensure the safety of hikers and all users, allow for the proper conduct of rescue and firefighting operations, and prevent the public from being exposed to high-risk areas.
The prefect calls on everyone to strictly respect these prohibitions, not to attempt to bypass closure measures, and to follow the instructions of emergency services and security forces.
