Closure of the Fango, Bonifato, and Western Part of the Agriate Territory Forests
Updated on 20/07/2026
Due to the "forest fire" risk assessed as very severe in the "Balagne" Forest Fire Zone 217 by Météo-France services, for Monday, 20 July 2026:
Access to unpaved trails and roads within the Fango massif, the Bonifato forest, and the western part of the Agriate Territory is prohibited for people and vehicles on Monday, 20 July 2026, from 10:30 to 23:59.
The public is urged to adopt the following preventive behaviors:
• strictly respect the ban on the use of fire and the closure of the aforementioned forest areas,
• use your vehicle only on authorized paths,
• limit your movements in the non-closed forest areas,
• do not have barbecues in the forest,
• camp only in authorized, secure, and protected sites,
• do not smoke in wooded areas or nearby. Do not throw cigarette butts out of your car window.
All services involved in forest fire prevention and suppression are mobilized and supported by national reinforcements.
Anyone witnessing a fire is requested to alert the firefighters as soon as possible by calling 18 or 112 (free call).
Similarly, it is recommended to report any suspicious behaviour to security forces (gendarmerie and police), which fully participate in the "forest fires" operation. In the context of combating fire pressure, gendarmes and police may carry out road checks, including opening and searching trunks, at the request of the public prosecutor during this period.
