Drought Alert Status Activated in Paris and the Inner Suburbs (92, 93, and 94)

The drought alert status has been activated across all municipalities in the departments of Paris, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, and Val-de-Marne.

#### Situation as of 11 July 2025

The particularly dry and hot weather observed since the beginning of spring, combined with the absence of rainy episodes, has led to an accelerated decline in the water levels of the Seine and Marne rivers over the past few weeks.

The drought vigilance measure is therefore activated across all municipalities in the departments of Paris, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, and Val-de-Marne.

Thus, the order of 11 July 2025 triggers awareness and monitoring measures to encourage users to adjust their water consumption and conserve the resource.

It is recommended that all users (individuals, local authorities, public services, businesses, industrial operators) adopt water-saving practices to preserve the resource. In particular, users should:

* limit secondary uses: car washing, exterior cleaning…;

* reduce street and sidewalk washing to the absolute minimum required for hygiene;

* reduce domestic water consumption;

* Limit watering of green spaces and avoid watering during the hottest hours.

The current level of vigilance is not accompanied by restriction measures. These will be implemented if hydrological conditions worsen and the alert level is reached.

#### Drought Crisis Management

The drought management system aims to ensure priority uses related to health, safety, and access to drinking water, while respecting natural balances, when hydrological conditions no longer allow guaranteeing all water-consuming uses.

It comprises four levels: vigilance, alert, enhanced alert, and crisis, for which progressively defined measures of awareness, limitation, and suspension of non-priority uses are established.

A framework order defines the conditions for activation and the nature of progressive limitation measures in Paris, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, and Val-de-Marne.
