Prevention of drownings in Essonne during summer

The State remains fully mobilized to prevent drownings throughout the summer in Essonne.

Risks associated with unauthorized swimming:

• Calm water can conceal strong currents, dangerous depths, submerged obstacles, or difficulties returning to the bank.
• High temperatures increase the temptation to swim in rivers or lakes.

📍 In Draveil, in the area of the Seine and Port aux Cerises, Ms. Elain, Deputy General Secretary of the Essonne prefecture, visited the site to meet with officers from the riverine unit of the CRS.

👮 This visit enabled a detailed operational sequence to be followed, outlining surveillance and prevention missions on the Seine.

Objectives of river patrols:

• Raise public awareness about the dangers of unauthorized swimming.
• Identify high-risk behaviors.
• Enforce swimming prohibitions.

During her direct meeting with the officers, Madame Elain commended their commitment and reiterated that preventing drownings is a priority for prefectural authorities throughout the entire summer period.
