Yvelines placed under orange weather warning – forest fire risk until Friday, 14 August

Météo-France has placed the department of Yvelines at the "Orange – High danger" level for forest fire risk until Friday, 14 August.

This threshold breach automatically triggers the prohibition measures set out in the prefectural decree of 28 July 2026.

##### Reminder of permanent smoking and open fire prohibitions in forest areas

The prefect reminds of the permanent provisions applicable, pursuant to the order of 12 June 2023, in "sensitive areas" (forests, woods, heaths, etc.) and within 200 m of those areas:

* Absolute prohibition of smoking and of discarding ignition sources (cigarette butts, etc.) in sensitive areas, as well as in their surroundings and on roads crossing them.

* Prohibition of carrying or lighting any type of fire.

* Prohibition of incinerating vegetation.

##### New enhanced temporary restrictions (order of 28 July 2026)

Until 31 August 2026, and as soon as the department is placed in High (Orange) or Very High (Red) danger status regarding the risk of forest fires, the following restrictions apply immediately in the forested areas of the department:

* Prohibition of using any motorized equipment or tools producing fire or heat between 13:00 and 20:00. Work carried out during authorized hours must be accompanied by firefighting equipment and the application of precautionary measures (monitoring, alert system, visual reconnaissance to ensure no fire has started).

* Prohibition of vehicle traffic on all unsealed roads and paths crossing or bordering forested areas (excluding exceptions).

* Prohibition of gatherings and events in the forest

Alert emergency services immediately by dialing 18 (Firefighters) or 112 (European emergency number).
