Heavy maintenance work on the Voray-sur-l’Ognon bridge (RN57)

Heavy maintenance works on the Voray-sur-l’Ognon bridge on the RN57 will begin on Monday, 17 August 2026, and end on Friday, 13 November 2026.

Responsible authority: Direction interdépartementale des Routes Est (DIR Est), on behalf of the State.

Objectives of the works:

• Replacement of the bridge bearing devices, due to detected corrosion.
• Repair of the road joints, particularly on the Besançon side where the joint is malfunctioning.
• Repainting of the barriers and metal girders.
• Jacking of the bridge to enable repairs.

Phased implementation:

• Phase 0 (17 to 24 August 2026): Closure of the expressway in both directions for preparatory works.
• Phase 1 (August 24 to September 30, 2026): Traffic heading toward Besançon diverted onto the opposite carriageway.
• Phase 2 (September 30 to November 2, 2026): Traffic heading toward Vesoul diverted onto the opposite carriageway.
• Phase 3 (November 2 to November 13, 2026): New diversion toward Besançon onto the opposite carriageway.

Impact on traffic:

• Reduction to one lane per direction on the RN57 at Voray-sur-l’Ognon, during the day and at night, including weekends.
• Expected congestion during peak hours (morning and evening).

Safety measures:

• Speed limit reduced on the affected section.
• Speed checks scheduled to ensure safety for users and workers.

Additional phase (April to June 2027):

• Repainting of the metal structure with anti-corrosion coating.
• Installation of scaffolding under the bridge with confinement zones to prevent river pollution.
• Maintenance of 2 × 2 lanes for the majority of the time, except for a few days with reduction to two lanes.
